MIRROR MIRROR: A tiny mouse admires its reflection in a puddle
A tiny mouse is captured looking at its own reflection in a puddle formed in a bin lid following a rain storm.
The adorable scene was shot by a dad-of-three who spotted the mouse in his back garden.
Simon Woodley, 58, hid in the garage of his home in Fulwell, near Sunderland, to snap the mouse peering into the puddle on Tuesday (19/1).
Simon, who took up photography after retiring from financial services, said: “I was pottering around the garden when I suddenly heard a rustling sound.
“I guessed it might be some kind of wildlife so I rushed back into the garage to grab my camera and switched the garden lights on.
“It was gloomy even though it was before lunch time at about 11am.
“Then I saw this little mouse next to the upturned dustbin lid which the birds like to drink from and he was looking at the water.
“He was having a little drink and it looks like he’s having a good look at himself.
“The reflection was absolutely perfect.
“I couldn’t have wished for a nicer shot of him.
“The rest of the time he was scurrying about picking up seeds that had fallen from the bird feeder above.
“I don’t think he has the same view as me but he does look like he’s staring at himself.
“There were no ripples in the water at all so it did look like glass.
“I was only a couple of feet away crouching in the back of the garage so I had to be totally still.”
