Black Panther star, Chadwick Boseman, has won a posthumous Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama.

The wife of the late actor broke down in tears as he won a posthumous award at Sunday’s virtual ceremony. In August last year, at the age of 43, Boseman died after a four-year battle with colon cancer. He beat the likes of Riz Ahmed and Gary Oldman to win the accolade for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. In the film, Boseman plays Levee Green, the trumpeter of the film's titular character played by Viola Davis.

Boseman’s widow, Simone Ledward said in her speech that the actor would ‘thank his ancestors for their guidance and their sacrifices'.

"He would thank God"

Ledward ended her speech by saying: "I don't have the words, but we have to all take moments to celebrate those we love, so thank you [Hollywood Foreign Press Association] for this opportunity to do exactly that. And, honey, you keep 'em coming."

Now that Boseman has won a Golden Globe, all eyes are on whether the Academy Awards are coming next...
