BACK TO SCHOOL: Cllr Graeme Miller & Dr Gavin Morgan discuss the return to school
For many youngsters it's been months since they last went to school regularly.
And though there might be a lot of excitement about seeing friends and teachers once again, there will understandably be those feeling anxious about heading back to the classroom while coronavirus is still circulating through our communities.
As children head back to school, many parents will be breathing a sigh of relief having had to juggle work and homeschooling for months. But it's normal to also feel concerned about the return to school, as coronavirus is still very much present in our lives. Enhanced safety precautions have been established such as frequent testing and mask wearing to keep the transmission of covid 19 to a minimum. We spoke to the leader of Sunderland Council Graeme Miller and Dr Gavin Morgan about this phases of easing lockdown.
I then spoke with Councillor Miller about what parents and guardians could do if they were feeling apprehensive and concerned about the safety of their children whilst at school.
