Cedarwood Trust in North Shields has clocked up its 40,000th meal for the community during a year of Covid-19.
Since the first UK lockdown on in March 2020, the charity has been providing freshly-cooked, healthy meals for people in North Tyneside, with the majority going to people on the Meadowell Estate, where the charity is based.
The meals have been cooked by young people enrolled on Cedarwood Trust’s Nurture Academy, where students from complex backgrounds are given the skills needed to go on and work in the catering industry.
Many of the ingredients have been donated by members of the community, too, with over a tonne of food donated now in stock at the charity’s HQ.
