SHOCKING: Newcastle United hammered in relegation battle with Brighton
Steve Bruce 's Newcastle United were destroyed by Brighton in a relegation battle that ended up 3-0 to the Seagulls.
It was billed as a six-pointer with the winners giving themselves some distance from the relegation zone.
However, Newcastle must have forgotten what was at stake after they turned in a dreadful performance.
Leandro Trossard sent the home side in 1-0 up on the stroke of half-time when he waltzed forward to the edge of the box and rifled in the first goal.
Goals from Danny Welbeck and and Neal Maupay in the second half wrapped up the result leaving the Magpies just two points from Fulham.
Newcastle mustered only a single shot on target and had just 34% possession in a game of huge importance.
That frustrated many Newcastle fans and had many calling for Bruce to be sacked.

Owner Mike Ashley expressed his support for the manager, however, meaning he'll likely stay in his role despite the fans' clear indication of what they want.
Bruce admitted his team were far from good enough and deserved to lose the game afterwards.
Disappointed, frustrated and angry was how he described the defeat before adding, "we have to admit that Brighton were far better than us in every department."
Steve Bruce was "shocked" after Newcastle were beaten by Brighton
Strangely, Bruce said he was shocked when talking about how Brighton were much better than his team.
This was despite Graham Potter's Brighton beating Bruce's Newcastle side by the exact same scoreline earlier this season.
"No disrespect to Brighton — but being that far in front of us in every department with the ball, without the ball... I was absolutely shocked.
"We simply didn’t do enough."
That's becoming a running theme for this team, who have won just two league games this year.
Steve Bruce will have to accept that Newcastle have walked into a relegation fight they shouldn't have ended up in after beating handsomely beaten by Brighton.
He can't accept relegation, though, and must turn things around immediately.
