Pandemic support for Durham businesses & Bedlington residents thanked after evacuation.
Mobile and home based businesses in County Durham are now able to apply for financial support. Under a new government scheme, support has been extended to cover more businesses impacted by the pandemic.
Residents in Bedlington have been thanked for their patience and understanding after having to be evacuated from their homes. A fire broke out close to the railway station on Saturday night, involving sheds containing acetylene and other cylinders that could have caused an explosion. Nobody was hurt, and an investigation into the incident is underway.
Lockdown has eased meaning the rule of six has returned and outdoor sports can resume. Residents in the North East have been asked not to get too complacent though with Northumbria Police urging everyone to remain responsible, and to remember this slight easing of the rules, though exciting, is not a full return to normal life. They added that we all must continue to follow the rules that are still in place.
