MISSED CHANCES: Everton draw with Crystal Palace

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti bemoaned his side's failure to kill the game after they drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace at Goodison Park.

The Blues missed several chances in the first half to open up a lead and Ancelotti said they weren't clinical enough to beat Palace.

Richarlison and Dominic Calvert Lewin had opportunities to score in the first half but both failed to break the deadlock.

James Rodriguez did eventually give the Blues the opener with a well placed strike 10 minutes after the interval.

However, Palace subsitute Michy Batshuayi pulled the visitors level with four minutes of normal time remaining.

The result leaves Everton eighth with a five point gap on fourth place.

It's just one win in eight league games at Goodison for the Blues, not including the FA Cup exit at the hands of Manchester City.

However, they do have a game in hand which is now essential if they're to climb into a Champions League spot.

Everton boss Ancelotti says they're still aiming for that despite their draw with Palace.

"The target is the same," Ancelotti said post-match.  "We lost two points. We have to get those two points back in other games.

"There is a fantastic battle for the European positions. A lot of teams are involved.

"We have to fight until the end. This competition will be decided in the last minute of the last game."

Everton's next game after the draw with Palace is a trip to Brighton on Monday evening.
