PRINCE PHILIP: The North East remembers the Duke of Edinburgh
His Royal Highness, the duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip has died at the age of 99.
The Queen confirmed that her husband had passed away peacefully at Windsor castle on the morning of Friday April 9th.
He goes on to say I would like to express my deep admiration for the service His Royal Highness has given to this country. His immense contribution to public life will be sorely missed.
His Royal Highness has been positively involved in the lives of a huge number of people here in Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool as he has been through hundreds of nations across the globe, through The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. The Award has inspired and educated many young people, instilling and developing within them the confidence, skills and outlook needed to face the challenges of work and life more broadly.
