FUNDING: Ben Houchen comments on the UK Community Renewal Fund opening for bids
Commenting on the UK Community Renewal Fund opening for bids Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said:
“This new UK Community Renewal funding will back communities across Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool as we recover from the pandemic, support our amazing local businesses to grow and help local people back into work or to learn new skills so they can develop their careers further.
“With the Teesside Freeport, investment into the Teesworks site and Government jobs coming to Darlington; tens of thousands of jobs are being created across the region. This new funding will mean new and innovative ways of getting local people into these local jobs can be tried out.
“These projects will sit alongside the Teesworks Skills Academy which has the mission of making sure local people have the skills needed to take advantage of the huge number of jobs that are being created right now on the site of the former Redcar Steelworks.
“We’ve made huge progress over the last 4-years, but there’s a huge amount of work still to do, so let’s not go back to square one. Let’s stick with the plan that’s working.”
