HAVE YOUR SAY: What would you like to see as the transport network decarbonises?

It's time to have your say. Transport for the North is decarbonising in the face of the climate crisis, so what changes do you think could really make a difference?

The transport network in the North of England is about to undergo some major changes as we look to reduce our emissions to zero by 2050.
Greener, cleaner vehicles and more people using bikes or walking could well undo some of the damage we've already done, but it is important that what comes next works for the people it effects.

Now is the time for decarbonisation, if we can expect to stick to our climate promise to reach net zero emissions by 2050.

And we're only going to get there by implementing changes that are accessible and helpful for everyone. This is why Transport for the North wants to hear from you.

Residents across the North East are invited to take part in the public consultation on this ambitious regional strategy to help tackle climate change.

Whether it's using alternative fuels, facilitating more active travel like cycling and walking or ensuring there's a robust electric charging network, the consultation aims to find out what will actually help to enable people to get around whilst reducing the region's carbon footprint.

We have already seen some of the devastating effects that human interference has had on the planet, with heatwaves, wild fires and extreme flooding this year alone.
And though the wheels are already in motion, if we act now to reduce our emissions, we should be able to avoid a global climate catastrophe.
