HOSPITALITY: Over 600,000 job losses so far but hopefully the end is in sight
In the midst of the third national lockdown, it seems like so long ago that we were able to go for a pint with a friend, take a mini-break somewhere new or catch up over a bowl of chips. But we remain hopeful that restrictions will be eased in the coming months to allow hospitality to pick up where it left off.
George visits the Grand Hotel in Birmingham to speak to the General Manager, Peter Kienast, about the challenges of the last year and what he is hopeful for in the near future.
The hospitality industry is the UKs fourth largest employer, which has estimated over 600,000 job losses throughout the pandemic already.
Our fingers are crossed that those working in the industry can get back to it as soon as is safe, and that we can all pop down to the local once again!
