NEWS ROUNDUP: Latest covid cases & kill the bill protest in Newcastle
A further 594 cases of coronavirus were reported across the North East and North Yorkshire over the weekend.
Darlington is currently the worst affected area in the region, with an infection rate of 129.2 per 100,000 people.
Kill the bill
A demonstration took place in Newcastle over the weekend as hundreds gathered to protest a police bill that imposes greater restrictions over peaceful protests. Those in attendance on Sunday were also showing their support for the reclaim the streets movement, that's calling for more to be done to protect women from violent attacks.
Day of reflection
Marie Curie is leading a national day of reflection as the 23rd of March marks one year since we first went into lockdown. The charity told us that they hope to unite everyone who has lost someone throughout this time by encouraging people to shine a light on their doorsteps at 8pm on Tuesday.
