Plans have been revealed for a new street food venue in a North Tyneside town named one of the UK’s coolest.
If the plans are given the go-ahead the business will be selling “independent craft beers, wines, spirits and cocktails,” from 11am to 11pm Sunday to Wednesday and Thursday and Friday and Saturday 11am to midnight.
As well as selling drinks, the Park View premises will also be used as “unique setting for street food”.
Whitley Bay was listed among the coolest in the UK by Condé Nast Traveller, last May, which highlighted a variety of businesses that have set up shop in the area over recent years as well as the coast’s regeneration.
The application paid tribute to these small businesses saying they made the area “vibrant”.
It said: “Situated on the very vibrant Park View in Whitley Bay town centre which is home to a number of the region’s most prestigious independent traders. This first floor large open plan space will operate as a unique setting for street food.”
If the application is given the go-ahead, Canny Leisure say they will offer a place for people to socialise and for small producers to sell their wares.
It added that they were seeking permission for “a licensed bar area serving independent craft beers, wines, spirits and cocktails. This space will turn into a social meeting place, a platform for other like minded independent operators to showcase some of their amazing products.
“It will offer a safe space to enjoy live music, arts and dance as well as a private hire venue.”
North Tyneside’s planning department is still yet to decide on the proposals, with the deadline for representations being October 18.
