WHITLEY BAY: Breakfast spot applies for alcohol licence

A Whitley Bay breakfast spot has applied for permission to sell alcohol.

After running a successful pop-up on Newcastle ’s Chillingham Road during lockdown, breakfast bar Pablo Eggs-go-boa opened their own site on Station Road early this year.

As well as breakfast bao buns, and hot drinks, the business also sells a doggy sausage for pet owners who don’t want their four-legged friends to miss out.
Now, owner Emma Dent has applied to North Tyneside Council for a licence to supply alcohol between 9am and 11pm everyday.
An application form lodged with the authority stated that a “small selection” of alcohol would be sold for consumption off the premises as an addition to food.
It said: “The premises will provide off sales of alcohol only and all sales of alcohol will be ancillary to food.

“Alcohol sold will be the likes of hampers with champagne and baos for celebrations etc.

“These alcohol products will be in sealed containers however the premises would like to be able to sell alcoholic coffees/mulled wines etc mimosas and seasonal alcohol or cocktails and a small selection of alcohol for consumption off the premises.

“The premises is more for celebrations and complimentary alcohol with the baos rather than a takeaway off licence etc.”

The authority’s licensing department has yet to decide on the proposals with the deadline for representations being November 15.
