FIXTURES ANNOUNCED: Sunderland’s 2021/22 fixtures

FIXTURES ANNOUNCED: Sunderland’s 2021/22 fixtures

Sunderland’s 2021/22 fixtures have been announced as they look ahead to another season in Sky Bet League One.

Having finished in 4th and securing a play-off spot in 2020/21, the Black Cats will be looking to finally achieve promotion back to the Championship after Lincoln City beat them 3-2 in the play-offs to end hopes of that last time around.

They will begin with a tough looking home game against Wigan Athletic on the 7th August before their first away game will see them make the long trip to play Milton Keynes Dons.

Games come thick and fast in League One with 46 in total compared to just 38 in the Premier League. There is an away game against Burton Albion (17th August) and then consecutive home games against AFC Wimbledon (21st August) and Wycombe Wanderers (28th August) complete the first month.

Their Boxing Day game will see them make the short trip to Yorkshire where they will play Doncaster Rovers whilst the Black Cats will finish the season on the 30th April away at Morecambe.

Fans will be eagerly anticipating the clashes with their foes from last season Lincoln City and the Black Cats will first take on the Imps on Saturday 13th November at The Stadium of Light with the reverse fixture on Saturday 19th March.

All games are subject to being re-scheduled by broadcaster Sky Sports if they select them for TV.
