HALLOWEEN CELEBRATIONS: What’s on at the Tyne Theatre this Halloween?
Celebrate Halloween at the Tyne Theatre & Opera House!
Don’t want to be left all dressed up with nowhere to go this Halloween? Whether you’re serving Frank-N-Furter realness or Count Drag-ula, the Tyne Theatre and Opera House have got your weekend covered as the Rocky Horror Picture Show Sing-Along Screening (Saturday 30 the October) and Adult Pantomime, Rapunzel (Sunday 31 st October) take to the stage.
Rocky Horror Picture Show Screening
“I see you shiver with antic…pation!”
After a flat tyre leaves Brad and Janet stranded on a stormy night, they experience strange incidents when they seek shelter in a nearby castle belonging to Frank-N-Furter, an eccentric transvestite.
Joined by a vibrant Shadow Cast and MC, audiences better get ready to sing their hearts out to what is arguably the most popular cult film of all time… And yes, costume is strongly encouraged!
You may or may not know, but the Theatre was once a cinema, The Stoll Picture Theatre. What better opportunity to experience the venue anew in this unique Halloween event.
Plus – tickets for this event are also being offered as part of a Crowdfunder prize draw. As a completely independent not-for-profit organisation, the Theatre relies on donations and the support of its audiences.
Audiences can support this independent venue by entering a draw for a chance to win four great house seats to the Rocky Horror Picture Show Sing-A-Long screening
Rapunzel – Adult Panto
Start your engines as Adult Panto is returning to slay another day! Get ready to ‘whip your hair back and forth’ as Daddyy Productions’ naughty little tale comes to the Tyne Theatre.
Featuring an All-Star international Drag Cast, including Drag Race UK Season 2 finalist Ellie Diamond,
Drag Race USA Series 13 icon, Tamisha Iman, Season 6 and All-Star Season 6 Trinity K Bonet and Season 3 and All-Star Seasons 1 and 5 Alexis Mateo.
Complete with glittering sets and more sequins than ‘Ru Paul’s Wardrobe’ and of course a back catalogue of pop songs, cheesy anthems and a love duet! It’s going to be CAMP; it’s going to be FABULOUS and maybe just a little bit Filthy too!
The fast-paced and glittering show will be sound-tracked by pop’s most iconic tunes and anthems with fabulous costumes, dramatic lighting, group numbers and a very naughty, laugh a minute script.
Davey Hopper, Director and Writer: “I am over the moon that I've been asked to direct this fabulous show. We have put together an amazing group of both cast and creatives. I just cannot wait to get in that rehearsal room and start making some filthy adult pantomime magic with them all.”
Ellie Diamond, Drag Race Season Two finalist: “It’s good to get back into theatre as I did a lot of performing when I was younger. The process of learning lines, direction and choreography is exciting. It’s been a very exciting to meet my American sisters Tamisha, Alexis and Trinity and swap stories and share experiences about Drag Race.
I’m excited to get on tour, to meet everyone and put on a show. Remember: Dress up, don’t dress down, just make sure there’s no H&M.”
Theatre Director Joanne Johnson has said “The atmosphere and buzz around the theatre at Halloween is just great fun to be a part of everyone really throws themselves into it. To have these productions marking the occasion sets the mood perfectly and will be a real treat for all of our audience!”
